Ruana

Ruana is an adventurous soul, not content to remain in one place for long, much less settle down to make a home. She's always looking towards the next horizon, the next land, the next day, with little regard for the current situation she finds herself in. In fact, Ruana can be terrifyingly unworried of her current situation, even when faced with deadly threats, to the point where her brother has to literally drag her away to keep her alive. It's important to note, though, that she is not suicidal, just a horrific judge of danger and convinced enough of her youthful immortality that pretty much everything simply rolls off her back like water over tropical leaves.

On the positive side, she's a very sweet young woman, willing to help anyone who catches her interest (despite the potential danger), and always carries a pouch full of treats to hand to young children she passes on the street. Ruana has a smile and greeting for everyone, and she loves to sit and listen to stories told by the elders of the places she travels to. Her life of travel has hardened her in many ways, however - she is adept at her dual daggers, and has more than a few scars gained through fighting both bandits and feral wildlife. She is a brutal fighter, and always aims to put her attacker down as swiftly as possible. Though those she trusts, she trusts unconditionally, Ruana relies on her instincts to keep her out of most situations... except when the lure of adventure is stronger than her instinct to avoid the problem.

A short young woman, Ruana has jet black hair, pale blue eyes, and pale skin that neither burns nor tans, just briefly turns a darker pink after too much exposure to the sun before returning to paleness the next day. She typically wears rough traveler's clothing - men's pants, quality knee high boots, a breast wrap, a simple shirt, and a quality leather knee length duster-style overcoat with a single cross belt from which hangs a quiver of arrows and a short bow that she uses to hunt for food in the wild. Around her waist is another belt, holding several pouches along with her two daggers. She has a small pack that fits over her quiver, which contains the small collection of things she needs for traveling.

Under her clothes, Ruana has some heavy scarring, especially across her chest and arms, as a result of fights during her youth, before she was quite as brutal at putting her attacker down, and also a few more recent scars from times she took on far too many for a single person.

Ruana and her younger brother Shien have been traveling for so long that they've both forgotten the name of their birthplace. Ruana first started wandering at the age of 10, dragging Shien along because "it wasn't right to leave him behind" -- however, she has no tragic backstory, no family lost to time or disease or war or famine. She's just a restless soul, with a family that was slightly less attentive than they should have been -- and who could blame them, with five other (older) living siblings and a large farm to care for, Ruana and Shien just... slipped through the cracks.

Since that point, the two of them have been constantly on the move, never staying in one place for more than a month before moving on. She made her bow herself - it's actually the tenth such bow she's made, and while it's hardly a quality piece of work, it's more than suitable for her needs. Ruana typically trades for whatever she cannot made herself, using herbs and meat that she gathers while traveling.
