The Little Rebellions

It was ridiculously easy to sneak through the night and away from the Passing Gather - no one cared what Kiostar did, since he had no trade to attract children towards, and wasn't a child himself. All of his 'protectors' were currently busy at the Passing Gather, from his sister to his friends... now was a perfect time to escape the muffling attention.

Halfway across the huge green, Kiostar paused and looked up, checking the guards on the walls and towers. Great heads swept back and forth, scanning the visible land beyond the walls - they weren't concerned with the actions of one small clanmember.

::You got away! Good job!::

Kios twitched, jerking his gaze from the guards on the walls to the shining mecha-dragon that had practically materialized in front of him. And maybe Uubeqium had materialized! The thought raced through Kios' mind even as he inclined his head in greeting. No one really knows everything it can do, after all.

Uubeqium chuckled, its tail wagging in excitement as it bounded over to Kios and nuzzled him. ::Ready to make your sister pull her crest out in frustration?::

::You never said - what is it I'm going to be doing?:: Kios asked, his wings twitching as he pulled away from the hyper mecha.

::Just a little human tradition of rebellion,:: Uubeqium responded smugly, its immobile face giving the impression of fake innocence.

::A... a human tradition..?::

If anything, Uubeqium's air of fake innocence only grew. ::Well, with a Nexus twist, of course! Come, come! No time to waste!::

Kios tried to draw away, but Uubeqium was faster - the mecha sidled up and pressed against his side, and suddenly they weren't in Akelara anymore.

::Brought you one!:: Uubeqium caroled as it bounded off like a giant puppy, leaving Kios alone amidst strangers.

Veya, Kios decided as he watched an artist add a tattoo to his left shoulder, was definitely going to kill him.

Tattoos were what Uubeqium had been talking about - a human-child form of rebellion, along with piercings in some... truly interesting places. Kios wasn't sure what he thought about that piece of information - why would anyone want to pierce a tongue, or nose, or any of the many places he had been told kids got pierced.

This tattoo, of course, was special - it held an unborn dragon inside it. His new bond.

And what would Veya say about that? Alaiskya didn't bond. Alaiskya didn't get tattoos. Alaiskya didn't run away to other worlds.

Guess I'm not much of an Alaiskya then, Kios thought in bemusement as he watched the tattoo take form. He was already considering getting something on his right shoulder, and maybe something else down his front legs.

He needed to ask Uubeqium what other sort of 'out there' traditions existed. Veya wouldn't recognize him when he came back!
