Cheerful and rather laid back (especially compared to Pale, who Rei is usually hanging out with), Rei takes things one relaxing day at a time. As such, once the natives got over their initial surprise at his appearance (it helped that Rei was notably shy and softspoken when he arrived), they welcomed him with open arms as merely another incarnation of Mashi'ari's will.

Rei holds the idea of honor dear, and does everything possible to act in an honorable manner, no matter what. Pale and Eyo taught him the Celestial Covenant as a child, and while Rei questions some of the rules and his place in them, he follows the Covenant as best he can.
