Ansel inherited his parents' love of adventure and exploration, and has already approached Shonakasen about becoming a Flare, despite being the only humanoid to do so. He's energetic and fun-loving, willing to give nearly everything a chance and, because of his own heritage as a mutt, tends to look past appearances to who people are inside. Unfortunately, Ansel has a rebellious streak that rears its head whenever he's told not to do something and then not given a reason besides "because I said so".

Ansel has a love-hate relationship with his beast-form. While he appreciates the heightened senses and the power it grants him, he hates the fact that it's such an obvious mutt of two creatures that wouldn't naturally be capable of crossbreeding. He keeps his curse close to his chest, either staying in his room while he's forced to be in beast-form, or escaping into the northern forest.

In his human form, Ansel is a short, slender youth, who looks years younger than he actually is. His hair and eyes are both a dark red-brown color, his skin is pale, and his features are a mix of his mother's more angular features and his father's rounded, child-like features. Like his father, he's stronger than he appears, but his real strength is his flexibility and speed.

While he's hardly as "clothes? Uh, what?" as his father, Ansel still tends to disregard them, often throwing on whatever comes to hand first, no matter what it looks like together. As a shifter, he's entirely unphased by the naked body, and so, unless the temperature is extremely cold out, he can sometimes forget to put anything on before going about his business.

In his beast-form, Ansel is an obvious hybrid, with a fossa's distinctive body and head, but with a lion's mane and tail-plume. His fur is the same creamy-white as his father's; his golden eyes reflect an orange light like his mother's; his claws retract fully into claw-sheathes, and yet his front legs have tiny, vestigial wyvern-like wing-tines that grow from his wrists. He stands about 3'2" tall at the shoulder in this form.
